About us
The doctors office for seafarers in Bergen are one of the oldest of it`s kinds in Norway. The office was established on the 18th of May in 1960. The same time other doctor offices were being built in other large cities in Norway. This was a collaboration between the Norwegian Seafarers Union and Norwegian shipowners association, and both companies were governed by a central government for Medical services for seafarers in Oslo.
The companies first office was located at Engen 39 and in February 1988 it was moved to Strandgaten 18. Where we still are located to this day in the fifth floor at Kropelienshuset. The first doctors at the office were Dr. Johannes Solem, Dr. Odd Meldahl Olsen and Dr. Ivar Hauge.
The office was privatized on the 1st of January in 1990. At the same time the Medical services for seafarers in Oslo closed down. Dr.Laura Sleire and Dr. Hallvard Vatshelle took over the private practice. From 1997 to 2005 Dr. Halvard Vatsheller ran the office with Jersey Zocol. Doctor Emmie Knudtzon Snincak was the sole proprietor and manager from 2005 to 2014.
